Just wanted to say thanks to SNORE for putting on a great event as usual. The race course was brutal and awesome at the same time. Also thanks to my crew, Lucas Hand, ORAF, and Lone Kid Racing for getting us to the finish. We had a long day with electrical problems but we wound up with a third place finish. Also, the Make A Wish ride was awesome too. The looks on the kids faces makes me proud to be an off road racer. Thanks again SNORE!!!! |

Just want to say I think it was a great event all in all. Thank you to all the officials and volunteers that made this and all our events possible. Though I didn't get to race with anyone, it was great to be able to visit with friends this weekend and help out where I could. The Wish Ride looked was another great success again as well. Hope it raised some good funds for these courageous kids.

Yeah, I know. I screwed up the one sentence grammar. You get the idea...

hello all.
I would just like to say a few thanks.. first off the official stuff. to all the SNORE volunteers you all are great. Mike Bailey thanks for towing the genny out friday, SIR Dave Nelson thanks for 1st doing track clean-up all day Sunday and towing the genny back. Baby-bug and crew you all did a great job picking up all the stuff at the trailers and around the pits.you all worked your butts off for this organization this weekend again..
now for the fun stuff..
****** wow ****** that was the best ride of my life,THANK YOU BILL, KYLE and all the Woodward family. Kyle's first words to me over the intercom was " why you breathing so hard?" i told him cause i was to fat for this. but all i could think of was how much fun this could be, the flagman in a class 10..then we get going around the track and it was great. OH did i say that KYLE is a ham for a video camera. all i see was this tall hill coming at us and then Don (pres.) and the camera guy on top. never heard kyle lift and then the ground disappeared. not sure how far we flew but i didn't breath the whole time we were up there. what a ride, and thanks again.
Lucas thanks for dinner and the pit bike races that was some funny STUFF...
dave nelson:
props to ken tappert for cleaning up the back side of the course today. it was an all around great event.

I would like to thank all of the volunteers that helped at the SOUTH COAST \ SNORE 250 . Thanks Mike Gaughan for putting up the $5,000 bonus for overall at the SOUTH COAST \ SNORE 250. Congratulations to all finishers ,it was a challenge just to do so. The FREEMAN CARPET race team had a tough day but we all had a great time and were happy to have had a chance to compete with the best racers in desert racing. I was lucky enough to finish and were the DUSTY TIMES last official finisher . At the SNORE 250 the last official finisher is the recipient of the Jean Calvin award . Having known Jean for many years this award is very special to me and the Freeman race team . Jean was a great competitor and was always there at the finish line , That never give up attitude is what off road racing is all about.

If there is a quote to be heard around the world during Sunday's Make A Wish Ride, it is the following:
“This is absolutely unbelievable,” said one driver in between rides given to various youngsters. “I had one young boy riding with me, so I asked him through the radio how he was doing.
“He told me he was doing fine considering that he was dying of leukemia. I actually started crying and he said to me “Hey, what are you crying about? I’m the one dying.” |

Hats off to the entire Southern Nevada Off Road Enthusiasts group for an incredible Make A Wish ride.
The event included 121 kids having a wonderful time in 56 race cars provided by off-road's most dedicated people. There were smiles from one end of the valley to the other all day long.
The stories of how much the kids -- and their parents -- appreciate the event are endless. It's truly one of those "feel good" events that reflects so positively about the SNORE organization. |

The Prez speaks: SNORE President Don Wall said that the SNORE 250 was so tough that it took out 50 percent of the field by the second lap.
“I was one of the ones who didn’t make it,” he said. “I was riding with my daughter having a blast and was going for a photo op. I ran out of talent and all of a sudden all I could see was sun. The front end stacked out and dropped to the ground.
“It was an uneventful race and proof that SNORE can put on a very well-organized event.”
1-2 1600 Winner: No. 1612 Blaine Conrad has been declared the winner of the 1-2 1600 class with a four-lap 5:08.07. We’re still waiting for reports as to what happened with No. 1627 Day Gang, who led after three laps.
CLASS 12 VICTOR: No. 1255 Steve Fuller has taken the Class 12 victory with a four-lap time of 5:24.13.
|
| 6533) | | | Mike Henle | | mhenle@aol.com | Location: Start-finish line | |
CLASS 5-1600: No. 550 Rulo Solano has grabbed his class with three-lap time of 4:22.18. Other than a pair of flat tires, Solano and his co-driver Osman Sanchez had a flawless race.
Solano operates a race car shop in Montclair, Calif. His co-driver, 21-year-old Osman Sanchez, also works in the race car shop.
Class 11 winner: The Stock Bug victory goes to No. 1102 Richard Nichols, who had a two-lap effort of 4:29.29.
Class 13 winner: No. 1313 John Houlton has captured the category with a three-lap time of 4:31.30.
SECOND PLACE CLASS 1: No. 125 Jamie Galles has run to the second-place position in Class 1 with a time of 5:08.36. |
| 6532) | | | Mike Henle | | mhenle@aol.com | Location: Start-finish line | |
THE OVERALL WINNER! No. 167 Tom Koch, a Ridgecrest, Calif., 60-year-old veteran who has past victories in the Mint 400 and the Parker 400, has taken the victory in the 39th annual SNORE 250. He and fellow driver Mike Childress turned an overall time of 4:40.45.
“This is our first race this year,” said Koch, who makes his living operating a junk yard in Ridgecrest, Calif. “My son is going to USC, and that’s taking all the money. I’ve been around a long time.”
The 27-year-old Childress drove the first three laps, while Koch took the Class 1 entry home on the final lap. He most recently signed to drive in the CORR racing series.
Childress said the vehicle suffered only one flat tire along with some shock damage, while co-driver Jimmy Hook did suffer a broken finger on the first lap after being hit by a rock kicked up by fellow Class 1 performer T.J. Flores.
Still no word what happened to Scott, who moved into the lead on the third lap before fading from the competition for unknown reasons. |
| 6531) | | | Mike Henle | | mhenle@aol.com | Location: Start-finish line | |
STUCK: No. 1102 Richard Nichols Jr., who had been the leader in his class, is stuck on the course a short distance from the start-finish line.
JESSICA FREEMAN QUOTES: The course is very rough. The first 20 miles are brutal and then you get a 10-minute break. But the last quarter of a mile is horrible.
1600 Leader: No. 1627 Day Gang has a three-lap time of 3:49.47 and leads Class 1600 after three laps. Running second is No. 1674 Nathan Schweigart with a time of 3:50.14.
CLASS 7 WINNER: No. 7218 Joe Stone is the first winner of the day driving his Class 7 pickup to a three-lap time of 4:02.00.
WINNER DUE SOON: The No. 157 entry of James Scott is due soon. If all goes as expected, he will be the overall and Unlimited Class champion of the 39th annual SNORE 250.
The 37-year-old Scott is from Hemet, Calif., an area long-known for being a hot bed of off-road racing talent. However, officials in the timing trailer say Scott is five minutes past due.
Interestingly, runner up Tom Koch is also past due, so this could be a very interesting finish. |
| 6530) | | | Mike Henle | | mhenle@aol.com | Location: Start-finish line | |
OUT OF RACE: Talented Class 1 competitor T.J. Flores, who has recorded a strong year for SNORE this season, dropped from the race on the first lap with mechanical difficulties.
TWO LAP TIMES: From the timing trailer comes the following two-lap times, which are unofficial:
Class 1: No. 167 Tom Koch, 2:08.22; 2. James Scott 2:10.
1600:1. Jay Shain 2:26.16; 2. Randy Jones, 2:29.20.
Class 10: 1. No. 1028 Dave Terrell 2:29.51; 2. C.J Hutchins 2:57.18.
Class 7: 1. No. 7218 Joe Stone 2:40.09.
NEW LEADER: No. 157 James Scott has now completed three laps and currently has the overall lead with a time of 3:21.39. No. 167 Tom Koch has finished three laps and has a time of 3:24.45
OUT OF RACE: Race officials have reported that No. 1214 driven by Jessica Freeman is out on the second lap. She is OK, although she has been listed out of the event after suddenly losing power. |

ON HIS ROOF: We have a report that a Stock Bug entry is on his roof a short distance from the starting line. Unconfirmed reports say that the vehicle is No. 1189 Ed Mahoney.
BAD LUCK: No. 116 driver Pat Dean was expected to become the first car to finish the first lap when the vehicle suddenly stopped running within a half mile from the timing trailer. We have a report that he suffered a broken cam shaft.
FIRST ACROSS: With Dean still sitting in the desert, the first one-lap finisher was No. 167 Tom Koch. No. 157 driven by James Scott was the second vehicle to finish the first lap.
CLASS 10 – C.J. Hutchins is the first Class 10 car to finish the first lap. Dave Terrell was the second Class 10 finisher in No. 1023. |

Unfortunately #803 has to pull out of yet another race, my wife had emergency surgery on Monday, and we were optimistic I could leave her home alone with two toddlers...Jayson and I both were looking forward to a great Class 8 battle at one of the roughest Nevada courses on the circuit. Best of luck to all the teams, volunteers, and officials at SNORE, and I can't thank Jim Kirchefer enough for getting my truck to Vegas, prepped and ready, along with a pit space and crew ready to go. Vision X for the support and Simco Motorsports already on the way from Colorado, thank you, and we will race another day soon. Especially enjoy the Wish Ride event and hug those children.
Mark Murrell #1100:
Andy, sorry about the circumstances keeping you from this race.

Congresswoman Berkeley has said that the Clark county commissioners were behind her on the gold butte wilderness bill . well I sent an e-mail to each commissioner and got this reply .
Dear Ken:
Thank you for your E-mail. The Clark County Commission has not taken any position on the proposed Gold Butte legislation. While I understand the desire to preserve sensitive lands, I believe that traditional uses of public lands must be respected and that the people of Bunkerville and other concerned citizens deserve to have their voices heard before any action is considered.
Sincerely,
Bruce L. Woodbury
looks to me that the congresswoman lied
