FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LAS VEGAS, NV – March 02, 2011 – The 43rd annual SNORE 250 off-road race will be staged in the Ridgecrest, CA area this fall. In previous years, this event has been held in Southern Nevada, and Ridgecrest marks the first time this popular event is being held in California.
Scheduled for Saturday, October 22nd, the event will feature over 20 classes of desert racing vehicles ranging in size from thundering Unlimited Trophy Trucks and ultra-fast open-wheel racers to popular Baja Bugs and stock VW’s. Racers will compete in the various classes for five laps over an approximate 50-mile course. Race weekend kicks off with Technical inspection of Friday, the 21st, and concludes with winner’s awards on Sunday morning.
This event, “The SNORE 250” is the latest SNORE event to be held in this area. In previous years SNORE has sanctioned a summer event in the same area. “ The people in Ridgecrest, and the BLM area personnel that we have worked with in the past have been exceptionally helpful in conducting our previous races, and it was only logical to bring our long-running, traditional fall event to the Ridgecrest area in 2011”, said Robert Gross, SNORE Race Director.
“There are a great number of racers from Southern California that race our events regularly”, added Don Wall, President of SNORE. “We appreciate their support, and I’m really excited we can have one of our premier 2011 races in an area that is closer to them”.
SNORE (Southern Nevada Off-Road Enthusiasts) is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization based in Las Vegas NV. The group sanctions a series of off-road races each year that include both professional and sportsman desert racers. SNORE produces the legendary Mint 400 off-road race that annually draws the elite who’s-who of off-road racing to ‘The Mint”.
